Our Values

  • To treat each other with dignity and respect

  • To encourage growth in ourselves and others

  • To continually build value in our service to others

To us, its Personal

Supporting seniors to live at home is all about developing extraordinary relationships between our CAREGivers and those they care for. We believe the support home care provides to families is only as strong as the mutual connection between the CAREGiver and the older person. The result is a personal commitment adapted to the needs of the person availing of home care services. Whatever each day may bring, the relationship-first approach enables Home Instead Senior Care to help bring families together by anticipating the changing needs of the older person at home and in the community. By living 'To us, it's personal' Home Instead Senior Care makes a real difference to the lives of the people around us.

Testimonials from Home Instead CAREGivers

Why work for Home Instead?

In Ireland we have a tradition of great caregiving, so we like to 'take care of our own', as well as taking care of our clients and their families. Employee recognition is deeply valued in our organisation and we want our employees to become part of the Home Instead team and really enjoy coming to work everyday.

Compensation & Benefits

It's hard to put a price on the satisfaction our CAREGivers get from helping others in need, but we do just that. We provide excellent benefits and wages. Here's what we offer.

Compensation

You may receive tips in hugs, but you'll also receive a pay cheque for your caregiving. Our pay rates vary according to level of training and type of shift. Beyond wages, we may also reimburse CAREGivers for mileage driven in your personal vehicle when you provide incidental transportation for your client.

Other Benefits

  • Our CAREGivers report a high degree of satisfaction in their work. No doubt this is because of the many fringe benefits that come from working with Home Instead Senior Care.

  • Job training: Beyond learning practical skills, you can educate yourself about complex diseases like Alzheimer's and other dementias.

  • Flexible schedules: Work when it suits you. Together, we will tailor a schedule that works for you.

  • Work close to home: You will be caring for seniors in your own community. We may even be able to match you with an older person who lives in your neighbourhood.

  • Make new friends: Our CAREGivers typically forge genuine bonds with the people they care for. Plus, you will meet other Home Instead CAREGivers at training and social events and have the opportunity to develop professional relationships with them.

  • Did we mention satisfaction? Few things feel better in life than giving back. As a Home Instead CAREGiver, you experience the privilege of giving back to your community with every shift you complete. That feeling is priceless.

A Day in the Life of a Professional CAREGiver

As a member of our team, you will care for older people and their families throughout Ireland. The area you would like to work in, you decide. Your specific duties will vary dependent on the client as well as your level of expertise and training. In a certain way, there is no 'typical' day-in-the-life. But if we could peek into your future as a CAREGiver, here's what we might see you doing on any given day:

  • Cheerfully greeting your client as you arrive for the day

  • Waking your client, helping her/him shower, dressing her/him

  • Preparing a nutritious breakfast

  • Putting a load of laundry into the washing machine

  • Chatting with your client about current events

  • Taking your client for a walk outside to get some fresh air and sunshine

  • Driving your client to a doctor appointment, taking notes about what the doctor said, then driving back home

  • Brewing up some afternoon coffee to enjoy together while watching television

  • Folding freshly laundered clothes and putting them away

  • Feeding the pet

  • Reminding your client to take medication

  • Playing a game or putting together a jigsaw puzzle

  • Dialling the telephone so your client can chat with a loved one for a while

  • Watering the plants

  • Listening to stories about when your client was young

  • Planning next week's menu together

  • Cooking dinner, doing the dishes afterwards and putting them away

  • Helping your client get an evening bath to relax

  • Helping put on pyjamas and get tucked into bed

  • Receiving a warm hug for all the help you provided that day

  • Writing notes in the Client Journal

  • Saying goodnight and "see you tomorrow"

Life changes constantly. You may find your client napping a lot one day and very chatty the next. One day may find you driving your client to the doctor, while the next day sees you listening to old radio programmes online. No matter what each day brings, you must be prepared to meet it with grace and good cheer. The one constant in your life as a CAREGiver? Variety.
