Creative Content Director at Far From Avocados Ltd in Dublin, Ireland

We're Far From Avocados. How's it going?

We're a brand publishing agency, and we plan, produce, create, deliver and distribute amazing content for brands (to give the short version).

We haven't been around all that long, but we've got a lot done in an awfully short amount of time – we've worked with the likes of Arnotts, Fulfil Nutrition, Butler's Chocolates, Moovingo and Enterprise Ireland – and there's a lot more to come. Hot on the heels of a phenomenal first year in business, and on the back of some very exciting new business wins, we're hiring an Creative Content Director to help plan, manage, produce, edit and distribute content across a number of platforms.

This role is part strategy, part management, part data analysis and part creativity – but in short, it's all about inspiring, driving and delivering amazing content. It would suit, in particular, an experienced digital journalist with a strong understanding of brands.

In short, you'll be Editor-in-Chief of Far From Avocados, reporting to the Managing Director and responsible for:

  • Developing content strategies for prospective clients and helping us to win business;
  • Working on strategies, ideas and executions for existing clients;
  • Overseeing the implementation of these strategies to the absolute highest degree of quality.

So what will that look like day-to-day? Well, here's our best attempt at a comprehensive overview...

Content Strategy

  • Designing, devising and planning excellent content strategies for new and existing clients;
  • Identifying the key audience, and using your skills, insights and research to deduce what content they want to consume – and how they want to consume it;
  • Understanding the customer decision journey, and ensuring the strategy hits all the relevant touchpoints along the way;
  • Working with the wider agency team and/or the client to ensure the plan delivers return on investment – for client and agency alike;
  • Communicating this strategy (in deck form, and at pitch stage where necessary) in a way that gets the client super-excited to push ahead with the plan.

Implementation

  • Working with our Senior Account Manager to deliver projects successfully once sold in;
  • Leading the internal and external content teams that turn our ideas into reality, and managing new hires as we bring them on;
  • Commissioning content that's tightly briefed, and ensuring it's filed on time and in the correct format;
  • Editing written content to the point of perfection, and overseeing multimedia edits;
  • Distributing content via paid and organic social media, as well as any other channels that suit the ask;
  • Managing and updating our freelance panel so that we can respond to briefs and commissions at lightning speed;
  • Making sure the job gets done, no matter what.

The ideal candidate?

  • Has experience – at least five years – in journalism, publishing, media planning, sponsorship activation, something along similar lines or (best of all!) a mixture of the above;
  • Someone who is not only able to think strategically, but is able to get these thoughts on to paper and communicate them effectively;
  • A content marketing nerd who's well tuned to the future direction of this discipline, and the landscape that surrounds it;
  • A fast worker, attuned to the speed of a modern-day digital newsroom;
  • An eagle-eyed editor, for whom quality is key – and for whom 'sure that'll do' quite simply is not a part of the lexicon.

What You Get...

  • The opportunity to work with one of the most exciting, fast-growing agencies in Ireland – and a nominee for Best Newcomer at the upcoming Digital Media Awards;
  • The chance to grow and manage your own team;
  • A competitive salary;
  • Paid gym membership;
  • Mental health and wellness package;
  • Automatic salary increases based on voluntary professional training;
  • A city-centre office, right next door to the best goddamn coffee in Dublin, with an in-built studio on our top floor;
  • The chance to be a part of Publish Or Perish 2018, the follow-up to our massively successful inaugural event last year;
