Game Designer at Bossa Studios

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Game Designer. As a member of the design team you will be responsible for the fundamental mechanics and balancing of our games. You will help drive the vision for what the game is, how it should work, what players should feel – and you will solve problems on a daily basis towards achieving that vision.

Our Team


  • Helping establish and craft the vision for gameplay systems and entire games
  • Maintaining this vision and guiding it through the creative process, from prototyping through release and beyond
  • Collaborating with programmers, artists, producers, QA, and other roles within the company
  • Evangelizing other members of the team, helping them to see the goals and purpose of the game design
  • Designing and balancing large multiplayer systems, especially crafting, player rewards, player progression, and combat
  • Proactively recognising design holes or imbalances in the game and solving them


  • A love of videogames, playing lots from different genres, which has honed in you keen design instincts – you know what makes games fun, exciting, interesting, and powerful
  • Constantly think up ways to improve the systems in the games you play for fun
  • Self-motivated and independent, relishing the responsibility of driving games towards being the best they can be
  • Excellent communication, both verbally and through design documentation
  • Analytically minded, and comfortable with complex spreadsheets and formulas that control the balance of numerous tightly linked game systems
  • Comfortable working within a fast-paced team environment
  • Experienced but innovative, opinionated but easygoing, and passionate but flexible


  • Have shipped a multiplayer game as a designer
  • Have 4+ years of game design experience
  • Experience with massively multiplayer games


  • Annual Holiday Allowance - our holiday year runs from 1st January- 31st December. We offer all employees a starting holiday allowance of 22 days + UK bank holidays. This allowance will increase by one day after every year up to a maximum of 25 days.

  • Profit Share Scheme – The profit share scheme is an incentive plan introduced by Bossa that provides direct payments to its employees depending on Bossa's profitability following the release of a game.
  • Cyclescheme - The Cyclescheme allows you to get up to £1,000 worth of bike and accessories through Bossa. You then pay a monthly ‘salary sacrifice’ to effectively 'hire' the bike and kit, over a 12 month period.
