Content Editor, Norwegian at Secret Escapes in London, United Kingdom

We’re searching for an amazing content editor/copywriter, a native Norwegian speaker with excellent grammar and spelling (this will be tested), who also has a good working understanding of English, Danish and Swedish. This person will be based in the Nordic team in our head office in Holborn, London.

Reporting to the Norwegian editor, this person will help produce our Norwegian language content - be it hotel descriptions for the website, social media posts, marketing- and email copy and the overall tone of voice for this particular territory.

The editorial team is small and agile (like a SWAT team) - one minute you’re writing copy for a five-star hotel in New York, the next minute you’re talking to a customer on Facebook about hotels that may (or may not) be dog-friendly. We all pitch in, we’re all in love with our product and we’re all excited about a newbie joining our ranks.

Main responsibilities

  • Researching and writing/translating sales for our Norwegian site
  • Proof-reading copy was written by freelancers
  • Posting engaging content for our various social media channels and reporting on this
  • Responding to customer queries and reviews on social media
  • Producing creative content for our marketing emails
  • Proof-reading and writing content for the Marketing department
  • Translating other necessary copy for the website and apps

Role Requirements

Experience with social media for business and a proven ability to produce high-quality copy for the web is essential - we have quick turn-around times and we need a speedy accurate copy.

  • Exceptional grammar, spelling and punctuation skills
  • The ability to process detailed information with as few errors as possible
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and speed
  • Proven interest in and experience with social media for professional use
  • Good technical skills (some experience with HTML, SEO, CMS, image editing etc is always welcome)
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, flexible ‘can do’ work ethic
  • Organised, thorough and methodical approach to work
  • Personable, good communicator, sense of humor
  • Interest in and some experience with PR is a plus

You pay attention to current trends in the social media landscape and are able to tailor content to the appropriate channel and your intended audience. You are creative and will have lots of ideas to bring to the table about how to engage with followers and ultimately how to sell them beautiful holidays.
